(Sorry it has been so long but not every place we go to has internet access - I will add photos once I can do so)
Today we set off for Skykomish on a 54miles of woodland and mountains with glimpes of snow on some of the slopes. This started with a fairly big climb with woods and rivers escorting us along the way. This also allowed us to find out the strong riders and those who were struggling and, I'm pleased to report, I did quite well!
We ended up at a large school building in Skykomish and we all slept in the gymnasium together but had to leave in the early hours to allow the school to open as usual. The night was interrupted by large freight trains that had to sound their horns as there was a road crossing in the town. Anyone within 5 miles, would have heard the trains! For us, we were less than 30 yards from the tracks. In morning I tried counting an oil wagon train coming through the town and I lost count at 43 units!!
We were treated to an evening meal at the local ball park by some of the residents, where I had my first root beer. Interesting?! I don't think that will be on my shopping list next time I go shopping but because I was so thirsty, I drank loads!!
Mountain climbing on the bike tomorrow
I am happy for you, Tim. You are a warrior.
