Housing Charity Work
Welcome to my webpage about my charitable housing work.
Since leaving full-time employment in June 2019, I have taken up doing housing charity work and focusing this through the Fuller Center for Housing, a christian housing charity based in America, but building homes around the world.
In June, July and August 2019, I cycled across America from Seattle to Washington DC (3,500 miles) to raise funds for this charity. On the way, we improved 19 homes, in conjunction with local Fuller Center partners. It was an experience of a lifetime with many great, new friendships created!
In October 2019, I had the privilege of helping to build 11 homes in 1 week in Beauregard, Lee County Alabama, under the Millard Fuller Legacy Build. Beauregard was devastated by a massive tornado in March 2019 when 23 people died in one night. I worked with some of my cycliing colleagues to help build one of these homes and help build 'Hope' into a shattered community.
The events of 2020 and the global Covid 19 pandemic rather shot a hole in the plans for the year but rather than cancel everything, the proposed rides were just postponed until the following year (2021). Instead I undertook a series of virtual rides instead which included: Lands End to John O'Groats, The Ring of Kerry and participation in a Round the World challenge for the Fuller Center.
In July & August 2021, I will be aiming to cycle from Seattle to San Diego (1,700 miles) to again raise funds for this charity
in September 2021, I will be hosting some of my cycling friends from America to again raise yet more funds for the Fuller Center and build on the new friendships that have been created
