Bonjour - I’m back on my bike!

Well, as part of my preparations for the big ride in the summer, I’m currently cycling in France with my neighbour, Mike Williams. This was his idea but I volunteered to set it up and arrange transportation, costings and accommodation. Everything has gone to plan but today is a day off and chance for the bodies to recover from the 260+ miles we have covered so far. I say ‘everything has gone to plan’ but the closed roads, diversions, the headwinds and the panniers on the back of the bikes have made the ride quite tough!

Travelling with this on an aluminium framed bike has been quite a change from my lightweight carbon fibre bike!!
We started on on Monday by cycling down to the local train station in Bath, catching a train to Portsmouth Harbour before boarding an overnight ferry to St Malo in Northern France. That was where to France bike tour started.

The weather was cloudy to start with but gradually it improved to the point where we needed to consider sun protection!
