After all the training and preparation, we finally started the bike ride from Land’s End, England to John O’Groats in Scotland today. The Atlantic was beautifully still but unfortunately the sun was hidden behind a thick blanket of cloud, however, as the ride progressed more an more blue sky became evident. As far as the team was concerned, it was dry and warm so little to complain about and much to enjoy!
What amused me was the Land’s End Sign as I was in New York last summer and this summer I’m headed to John O’Groats.
The ride was quite tough as we climbed over 5,000ft in just 60 miles. I was definitely ready for a shower on arrival in St Austell!! Getting ready for our evening meal and, apparently, there is a football match to watch - if I can stay awake long enough!! Wearing my Lily foundation T Shirt tonight. One of the three charities I’m supporting through this ride.
Come on England!!
